A memorial formed Friday night in Soundview to honor the memory of a newborn baby girl who was found dead behind an apartment building this week.

Police say the baby’s body was discovered where the trash is kept behind 1150 St. Lawrence Ave. on Wednesday.

The umbilical cord was still attached, according to authorities.

The identity of the newborn is unknown, and the medical examiner has yet to confirm the cause of death.

No charges have been filed, but police say they are questioning an individual.
