declaring monkeypox a public health emergency after more than 6,600 probable or
confirmed cases have been detected in the U.S since the first one was
identified in May.
Health officials in New York have already declared monkeypox an emergency -
allowing the state to put funding and resources toward the outbreak.
The
number of cases in New York
are now over 1,700. Here is the breakdown in the Hudson Valley:
- 47 in Westchester County (the most anywhere in the state outside of New York City)
- 6 in Orange County
- 5 in Dutchess County
- 4 in Rockland County
- 2 in Sullivan County
If you're looking to get a monkeypox vaccine - more
options are becoming available. The Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center is
hosting clinics Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. And
the Greenburgh Health Center will host clinics 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
