Movie theaters
across the boroughs were packed Saturday for National Movie Day. Theaters
celebrated by selling movie tickets for $3.
National Cinema Day was created by the
national nonprofit Cinema Foundation, which says the day is to celebrate
what they say is a record-breaking summer for movies.
The one-day event, held at more than 3,000 participating
locations with more than 30,000 screens, aimed to bring together audiences of
all ages to enjoy a day at the movies at a discount.
News 12’s Julio Avila spoke to several people waiting to see a movie at the Showcase
Cinemas in the Grand Concourse and they told News 12 the savings go a long
way.
