NAN calls on investigators to label massage parlor attacks as a hate crime

“It seems clear to us when a man goes to an Asian spa, and then goes 27 miles to another – that if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck,” said Rev. Al Sharpton.

The National Action Network joined with advocates for Asian Americans to denounce recent acts of violence.
On Wednesday, a white gunman was charged with killing eight people at three Atlanta-area massage parlors in an attack that sent terror through the Asian American community, which has increasingly been targeted during the coronavirus pandemic.
Police later arrested a 21-year-old Georgia man who they say took responsibility for the shootings.
NAN made it clear that it stands with its Asian American neighbors during an event outside their office in Harlem.
The Rev. Al Sharpton criticized the investigators who have not yet labeled the shootings as a hate crime.
“It seems clear to us when a man goes to an Asian spa, and then goes 27 miles to another – that if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck,” he said.
The NYPD says that crimes against Asians across the city have increased since the coronavirus pandemic began.
