A new Netflix series about the Bronx held its premiere in the borough Thursday night at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts.
"The Get Down" chronicles the birth of hip-hop in New York City, seen through the eyes of a group of scrappy, talented teens from the South Bronx.
The show seeks to illustrate how new music, poetry and hip-hop beats evolved out of disco music.
The show's first six episodes were set to become available to viewers at midnight.
