New affordable housing development to house hundreds of seniors in the Bronx

All 177 of the units at Arthur Avenue are currently filled, but there is a waiting list. State officials say they hope to bring at least 20 more projects like this one to our city.

A new affordable housing development will be home to hundreds of seniors in the East Bronx. 
Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin joined Bronx officials on Monday to welcome the new building. 
The Arthur Avenue apartments is an affordable housing complex that hundreds of low-income seniors are now calling home. 
The $91 million building includes amenities including a community garden and a gym. The new complex is four years in the making, a partnership between developers, the city and state. 
City Council Members Rafael Salamanca says that unlike gentrification, which pushes residents out, this project is bringing residents in.
