Local business owners in Cypress Hills are looking to the new Cypress Hills Fulton Business Improvement District (BID) for potential relief amid persistent challenges, including trash, safety concerns and the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Leaders of the BID aim to improve the area by increasing foot traffic and revitalizing the neighborhood’s commercial corridor.
“With the BID, we're hoping to bring more foot traffic onto the corridor,” said Chief Samsair, chair of the Cypress Hills Fulton BID.
While the BID is still in its early stages, some business owners are hopeful.
“I hope that it all works out for all of us and that maybe some of us can recover because we've been affected since COVID and really struggle and still struggle,” said one local business owner.
As the BID takes shape, both leaders and business owners remain optimistic that it will help bring long-term improvements to Fulton Street.
