A three-pronged plan to “fix the MTA” was revealed by state elected officials in Queens on Thursday.  

State Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani and state Sen. Michael Gianaris announced a plan today that would address three points of interest in the New York City public transit system.  

First, they are asking to freeze any proposed fare increases. Secondly, they suggest an increase in service in the bus system by 20% and reducing wait times on subways to six minutes or less citywide.  

They also want a rollout of free buses over a four-year span by borough, starting with the Bronx, then Brooklyn, then Queens, and then Manhattan and Staten Island in year four.  

The elected officials have launched a website with more information about the legislation, which is set to be introduced in the new year.
