Litchfield County resident Danielle Weisberg says she was looking for a way to help others after being laid off from her job. She found that chance through a social media post about a charity to help feed families.
“The mission is feeding families, spreading kindness, strengthening communities,” says Weisberg. “It’s just a little bit of kindness.”
People can request meals through the Lasagna Love website. Volunteers can follow any recipe they like.
Weisberg says she was excited and nervous the first time she had to cook for someone she didn’t know. She used the recipe that belonged to her husband’s grandmother. She says it helps to keep her memory alive.
“I like to think when I’m doing it, I’m channeling her a little bit,” says Weisberg.
Lasagna Love started in California during the early days of the pandemic. It has now spread nationwide.
