The 'Breaking Ground' supportive housing complex officially opened its doors in the Bronx Tuesday.
The building opened on Boston Road near Jackson Avenue.
Officials say the complex is for seniors, the formerly homeless and low-income New Yorkers.
Amenities offered at the building include 154 studio apartments, an on-site medical services facility, as well as a landscaped courtyard, fitness room, computer lab, laundry room, bicycle storage and 24-hour security.
The complex is also one of the first supportive housing buildings funded by the state's Medicaid redesign team.
However, tenants still have to pay rent. The group says there are a few vacancies still available for low-income and special-needs tenants.
