A recent report says that five select buses -- one in each borough -- have technology that holds green lights longer and turns red lights more quickly.
The city Department of Transportation released a report on what is called transit signal priority, or TSP, which allows traffic signals to change in response to bus movement.
The report found that after TSP, bus travel times on the five select routes, such as the Bx41 in the Bronx, improved daily by around 18 percent.
Some riders say they notice the improvement, while others say the route still feels sluggish at night.
The DOT says the citywide technology will cover more than 1,000 intersections by 2020.
