The enduring commitment of a nun from Queens has fed the needy with food from Hunts Point for almost 40 years.
Sister Elisabeth Anne, of Little Sisters of the Poor, says she began in 1979 when she was sent to the Hunts Point Terminal Market to beg for food.
Now, she gathers more than 1,000 pounds of donated produce each week.
It feeds 80 needy seniors at Queen of Peace Residences.
The nun says it's about more than bringing food back to the needy.
"It's not just begging for ourselves," she says. "But to bring God into the marketplace."
