News 12 sources have confirmed that New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams has entered the mayoral race.

The New York City Campaign Finance Board website has Adrienne Adams listed under a list of candidates above Mayor Eric Adams.

Adrienne Adams has eluded to a run for a number of weeks and is expected to officially announce her campaign run in the coming days.

If elected, Adrienne Adams would be the first female NYC mayor.

The race for mayor includes current Mayor Eric Adams and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo who threw his hat in the ring last week.

Cuomo's decision to run had been first reported by News 12's Tara Rosenblum.

The primary elections are in June .
