Commissioner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Dr. Ashwin Vasan on Tuesday spoke on the importance of healthy eating in the Bronx.
The goal of the talk was to encourage healthy eating and show how easy it can be as cold and flu season nears and with the uptick in COVID numbers recently.
“COVID is here, COVID is not going anywhere,” said Vasan.
“And what we learned during the pandemic, is that people who are at higher risk of having or getting COVID, having a more severe outcome of COVID and dying of COVID are people who have underlying health conditions like diabetes, like obesity, like heart disease. So, this is about prevention.”
