Mayor Eric Adams, Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority CEO Janno Lieber honored two officers who rescued a
homeless man from an oncoming train in Manhattan.
Police say the man accidentally fell on the tracks on Thanksgiving Day. The NYPD rescued the man just moments before a train rolled into the station.
Mayor Adams added the rescue was made possible after the city and state partnered up to increase patrols on the subways.
The mayor issued a proclamation in recognition of both officers, one of whom is from Haiti and the other from Bangladesh.
