Students at New York City schools could be sitting a little closer
together this week.
The state eased school distancing restrictions Friday following changes to the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
Students are now allowed to sit 3 feet apart from each other instead of 6 feet.
District Superintendent for Nassau Board of Cooperative Educational Services
Bob Dillion says reconfiguring classrooms close to the end of the academic year
is frustrating.
“Our kids and staff have been through the ringer this whole year,” Dillon says.
The new distancing restriction applies to students in middle and high schools
as long as community transmission is low.
