Fans gathered outside City Hall Thursday to celebrate New York City Football Club's first-ever MLS championship.

For thousands of fans who have been here since day one, this celebration is a long time coming. Fans lined up outside City Hall Park hours before the gates opened, coming together to share in what was in many ways an improbable championship.

Mayor Bill de Blasio presented each member of the team with a key to the city.
