New York City's Department of Transportation is hosting its Trick-or-Streets event emphasizing safe streets for trick-or-treaters.
Trick-or-Streets will take place across all five boroughs to give kids and families the opportunity to safely trick or treat. The idea with this initiative is to maximize the city's public space.
Themed events will begin on Tuesday at 11 a.m. and continue throughout the night. The designated car-free areas will allow kids to go from booth to booth to collect candy.
With the NYPD present, city officials say this is the safer alternative in the city to going door to door.
