NYPD: 1 man killed, another injured in Belmont fire

The NYPD has confirmed a 34-year-old man died because of the fire, and a 56-year-old man was rushed to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

A fire Thursday night in Belmont left one man dead and another injured, according to authorities.
The NYPD has confirmed a 34-year-old man died because of the fire, and a 56-year-old man was rushed to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
Firefighters were seen on scene battling those flames, and residents were outside as they did so.
One resident told News 12 that he was sleeping at the time and was awoken by the strong smell of smoke.
Fire officials were also seen putting something out in a barrel, it is unclear what it was.
FDNY officials say they are investigating the cause of the fire.
