A 27-year-old man was fatally shot Tuesday in Belmont, the NYPD says.
Police say the shooting occurred near Southern Boulevard and E. 187th Street. The victim was taken to SBH Health System where he died.
Police have Southern Boulevard closed between E. 187th Street and Garden Street. Several evidence markers are in the street at E 183rd Street near the entrance to the Bronx Zoo.
One witness told News 12 that he heard 8-10 gunshots coming from two cars.
Officers are searching a burgundy Hyundai Sonata at the scene. The vehicle has no license plates and damage to the rear driver side door. The car is facing the opposite direction of the one-way street and knocked over a stop sign.
