The NYPD Special Victims Unit credited tips from the public
that led to the apprehension of Fausto Perez.
Perez, 33, is accused of grabbing a 33-year-old woman from
behind and attempting to rape her in the stairwell of her building. She was
able to escape.
Perez is charged with attempted rape.
