The NYPD has boosted security in Times Square after it says a bomb threat was shared on Reddit.
Authorities say the threat was not credible. The NYPD's counterterrorism and intelligence bureaus are now actively investigating the threat's origin.
As a precaution, the NYPD rolled out extra personnel in Times Square.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo released a statement on the incident that reads in part, "I am directing the New York State Police to coordinate with local and federal partners to launch a full-scale investigation into this incident. There is no indication that this threat is credible, but with that said, state police will be on the ground working with NYPD and partners to step up patrols in the area during the day."
