The alleged attacker of four young girls in Bensonhurst now faces a long list of charges.
Police say 49-year-old Long Qien Chen has been charged with attempting to kill his four nieces with a meat cleaver and a knife.
In addition to the four counts of attempted murder, Chen is also charged with two different types of assault, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing two officers and endangering the welfare of a child.
One of the girls, just 11 years old, was able to escape to call 911. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch called her a hero on Sunday in a press conference for making the call that most likely saved her - and her siblings - lives. Also, in the home that morning, a young boy, who News 12 was told by police miraculously escaped physically unharmed.
Chen is still in critical condition and will be undergoing more surgeries. According to family members, he has a history of mental illness.
The address of 1671 84th St. has no prior domestic violence disputes, though neighbors tell News 12 that the family only moved in about a year ago.
Neighbors say the four girls are physically healing.
