An NYPD officer who was shot while responding to a call in Brooklyn on Christmas Eve, was released Friday from New York City Health + Hospitals/Kings County.

Around 9 p.m. Thursday, a mother called 911 saying her daughter’s boyfriend, who police sources are identifying as William Moss, called threatening to shoot up the place.

The 27-year-old officer who has about two years of NYPD service arrived on Bergen Street and was talking to the daughter when the boyfriend showed up.

After the woman pointed toward her boyfriend, he allegedly opened fire, striking the officer in the back. He was saved by his bulletproof vest.

According to NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea, there was a chase on foot and officers apprehended the 20-year-old suspect.

“He is in a little pain but he's in extremely good spirits,” Shea said of the officer.

The NYPD says the couple has at least one domestic incident in their records. The suspect was not injured.
