NYPD on 'high alert' in anticipation of abortion rights rallies at Catholic churches

The NYPD says they are on high alert after abortion rights activists called for rallies at Catholic churches this Mother's Day.

Catholic archdioceses across the country are taking precaution, with some churches stepping up security today in anticipation of the demonstrations.
Saturday morning, abortion rights activists rallied outside the Basilica of St. Patrick's Old Cathedral in Manhattan. More rallies were also held on Long Island in front of the Nassau County Courthouse in Mineola.
These protests sparked after a leaked document earlier this week showed the Supreme Court may overturn the Roe V. Wade decision that made abortion legal nationwide almost 50 years ago.
The NYPD encourages residents to report anything out of the ordinary. Police say there have not been any incidents reported as a result of the protests so far.
