A 28-year-old woman was attacked on the BX8 bus in the Bronx on her way home Wednesday afternoon.
According to the NYPD, the incident took place just after 3 p.m. near Williamsbridge Road and Rhinelander Avenue.
The victim, Barkyira Bonnet, says she was on her way home waiting for a phone call from her best friend when she was attacked by a man she says she’s never seen before.
She told News 12 exclusively what she could remember of the attack.
“It kind of caught me off guard… I put my arm up and he just kept hitting until the bus came to a halt... he ran out and smiled," said Bonnet.
Bonnet says since the attack happened so quick, she didn’t get a chance to get a good look at her attacker.
Police arrived on scene, and they told News 12 that Bonnet was brought to a local hospital, where she was evaluated for sustained minor injuries. Officials also ask those who were on the bus at the time of the attack to give them a call at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) if you have any information on the man who attacked her.
