Officer attacked while confronting stabbing suspect at Fordham Road subway station

Two officers identified the 41-year-old man wanted for questioning and approached him just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The man threw an object at the officers, striking one of them in the head.

Authorities say an NYPD officer was attacked while confronting a stabbing suspect at the Fordham Road subway station.

Two officers identified the 41-year-old man wanted for questioning and approached him just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The man threw an object at the officers, striking one of them in the head.

Police say the officer suffered a minor laceration to his head. He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in a police car and is expected to recover.

Authorities say the 41-year-old is accused of stabbing another man about five hours earlier near East 167th Street and Gerard Avenue. The victim is expected to be OK, authorities say.
