An NYPD sergeant and his two commanding officers took heroic action when responding to a man who fell onto the Fordham Road station subway tracks on Monday.

Body camera footage shows officers Reginald Bertrand and Stephanie Nunez and Sgt. Jesman Thomas, who are all stationed at the 77 race to the tracks after a man alerted the crew about someone falling onto them.

"We knew we had to get him out before the next train came and we knew we didn't have much time,” said Officer Nunez. “It's a big station, we literally had to go from the other side, from the northbound to the southbound side."

The officers and sergeant discovered the man on the tracks who had blood on him and was visibly injured, with the next train just four minutes away. In less than one minute, the three members of the NYPD became heroes.

They say that they were lucky the station wasn’t full of commuters at the time of the incident, and that the man who they rescued is in stable condition.

"I wouldn't change anything. I think my team and I, we did a good job, we did it efficiently. We were there at the right time, the right place, and we were able to get him out safely,” said Nunez.
