Officials: 3 injured, homes evacuated amid major flooding in New Brunswick
There is major flooding and multiple road closures in New Brunswick following heavy rain on Tuesday morning.
Crews are expected to be out until nighttime pumping water out of the streets.
New Brunswick officials say that three homes on Drive Street needed to be evacuated, as well as a home located at 148 Welton St.
The flooding also impacted parking garages and the Middlesex County Family Courthouse. The courthouse had to be shut down, according to officials
Officials say that seven children and an adult were trapped at 12 Drift St.
Middlesex County Sheriff’s officers who were evacuated from the courthouse were able to respond and help.
The basement walls of two homes collapsed due to the flood.
Officials say that three people were hurt. They were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and are expected to be OK.
Displaced residents were temporarily relocated to Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Kirkpatrick Street. The American Red Cross is on the scene providing relief.
