After a man was shot twice outside Crotona Park pool,  some parents are hesitant to have their kids swim there.    

One mother, Wanda Mercado, and her 14-year-old son Justine normally come to Crotona Park pool almost every day to cool off, but after learning about the shooting, the mother is worried.

Police say the 45-year-old man was shot twice around 5 p.m. Wednesday about one block away from the Crotona Park pool.

Authorities say the victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive. The suspect was last seen running away from the scene, according to police.

The shooting did not happen directly at the pool or directly outside the facility, but it did take place during the pool’s extended hours.

Despite some voiced safety concerns, many visitors aren’t letting this unfortunate incident prevent them from taking their little ones to cool off during the heat wave.
