An action plan was announced Friday that aims to clean up a McDonald's restaurant in Tremont that is known as a hotbed for drug sales.
When News 12 The Bronx first covered the activity at the McDonald's on East Tremont Avenue, many people sounded off on our Facebook page. Some commenters said it had been going on for years, and others said it was about time something happened about it.
A new coalition has come up with a seven-point plan to make the area drug-free.
The plan is a collaborative effort focused on targeted drug-related issues. It aims to not only address the sale of heroin and cocaine at the fast food joint, but also opioid use in Tremont Park. It also includes a needle cleanup iniative to add more syringe retrieval kiosks.
The East Tremont Avenue McDonald's is currently under construction. When it reopens, there will be a NYPD detail and surveillance cameras that can be remotely accessed and monitored by police.
