Police have identified Prodrika Thompson from Williamsbridge as the man who they say opened fire inside an Allerton club early Labor Day morning.
The NYPD tells News 12 that after being kicked out of the club, Thompson went to his car and got a gun. He then headed back inside and began shooting, hitting a 37-year-old employee in the leg.
While 311 lists multiple noise complaints against The Kutty - where the shooting happened - people in the neighborhood say they have mixed opinions of it.
"We've been there, eating before, the food is good and everything, we never had any issues," says Juan Franco, who owns a salon across the street.
"It's not a good place," says Cristian Abad, who lives nearby. "A lot of people fighting all the time, getting drunk."
Either way, they all had similar reactions to this shooting, which investigators say included an off-duty parole officer shooting Thompson multiple times before he tried to drive away, and crashed his car.
"It was shocking just to hear something like that," said Franco. "But again, it's drinks, people go in there."
News 12 is also learning that this is not Thompson's first run-in with the law. He was out on bail and facing multiple charges, included attempted murder, for a different shooting in October 2023 on White Plains Road.
According to the Bronx District Attorney's Office, that also started with a fight at the bar.
"That's something that's crazy. He definitely should have never been out," said Franco.
Precious Feliciano, who works across the street, said that she has always considered it a safe neighborhood, but says, "now I have to look everywhere because now you don't know, everybody walks with guns nowadays."
Thompson's lawyer tells News 12 he was actually hoping to get the 2023 case dismissed on Thursday, but doubts that appearance will happen now, since Thompson is currently in critical condition, fighting for his life after being shot by that off-duty officers,
The club employee is expected to be OK.
