Two 11-year-old girls are recovering after a hit-and-run in Tremont.

Police say a black SUV drove through a red light on East 180th Street and struck the two young girls as they crossed the street around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver did not remain on scene. Police are now searching for the driver.

The girls were taken to a hospital and are in stable condition.
