Crews responded to the scene of a building collapse in a residential area of East Orange Saturday evening.
It happened around 5:45 p.m. at 89 North Arlington Ave.
The city's Public Information Officer Connie Jackson says the four-story building was under construction when it collapsed and left plenty of debris in the road.
The cause was not immediately clear. Jackson says there were no reported injuries.
The incident has closed several streets in the area as crews are expected to be there overnight.

Jackson said the adjacent properties at 352 and 356 Williams St., as well as 81 North Arlington Ave. were evacuated as a safety precaution.
NJ Transit provided transportation for those residents to the nearby YMCA.
K-9 units were also used to search through the rubble and look for victims.
A woman who lives in a building on the street says the building used to be a hotel. It had been vacant for years, but now crews are doing work on the building to fix it up. She says she heard the building collapse and saw a dust cloud.
“I heard a loud -- it almost sounded like thunder, but you can tell it was something that was falling and like crashing, so it sounded like something was sliding," the woman told News 12. “And then my daughter told me that she could see out her back window that the building had actually collapsed.”
