Police say a cyclist was mowed down in Baychester and that the driver responsible simply kept on going.
The near-death experience was all caught on video. Cyclist Ryan Brion says he wants police to catch the driver immediately.
The incident happened at the intersection of Edson and Hammersley avenues two weeks ago. In the video, you can see Brion riding in the pedestrian crosswalk when an SUV appears to roll through a stop sign to drive on Hammersely Avenue.
In the video, the SUV is seen accelerating and then colliding into Brion - and knocking him off his bike. Police say the driver did not stick around to help.
Brion was not wearing a helmet and says he suffered bumps, bruises, and a knee strain but realizes this could have turned out much worse. He says a good Samaritan stopped after seeing him on the ground and took him to the hospital. Doctors told Brion he is lucky to be alive.
Brion says he is grateful to be alive and wants the hit-and-run driver to turn themselves in.
He also said he wants drivers to do a better job following the rules of the road and sharing the road with cyclists and pedestrians.
