The man arrested in the rape of a woman at St. Mary's Park has 19 prior arrests, according to police.
Police say Christopher Martinez, 19, waited outside the home of a 38-year-old woman around 8:30 a.m. earlier this week before pulling out a knife and demanding she follow him. They say he forced her inside St. Mary's Park, raped her and stole her debit card.
Martinez is being charged with rape, robbery, criminal sex act and forcible touching. Police say he was already facing attempted murder, assault and robbery charges.
Days before the rape arrest, police tell News 12 that Martinez was charged with attempted murder for approaching a man in his car at 139th Street and Willis Avenue and stabbing him four times in the back.
Business owners in the Mott Haven area told News 12 that Martinez has been terrorizing the area since last summer, accusing him of stealing, assault and holding employees at knifepoint.
