Police say a man has been arrested for unlawfully
fleeing an officer at a traffic stop in Sayville and driving with 40
suspensions.
According to police, Jemel M. Edwards was driving a 2000
Nissan Altima eastbound on Route 27 Service Road, when he was pulled over at

nearby, located Edwards, and arrested him.
Upon further investigation, it was determined he had 40
suspensions on his driver’s license.
Edwards, 35, of Deer Park, was charged with unlawful fleeing
a police officer, operating a vehicle without an interlock device, aggravated
unlicensed operation of a vehicle, as well as eight other NYS vehicle and
traffic violations.
