A driver is in police custody following an accident in Clinton Hill involving a man on a motor scooter who died of his injuries on Wednesday.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at the intersection of Classon Avenue and Clifton Place.
Video of the scene appears to show the 33-year-old man who was riding the moped laying in the street, and a car sitting on the sidewalk with noticeable damage to the front.
It appears the vehicle may have crashed into a fence after hitting the moped.
Police say the man on the scooter stopped at a light when the back of his scooter was struck. He was then ejected from the bike.
The man was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the car is in police custody. No charges have been filed yet.
Traffic fatalities are on the rise this year. Data from the city’s Department of Transportation shows that there have been more than 90 traffic fatalities, with roughly four of them involving mopeds.
