Police: Man, woman brutally beaten and robbed for $20 in Wakefield

Officials tell News 12 the pair were rushed to the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.

Police say a man and a woman were brutally beaten and robbed in Wakefield.
According to police, the entire incident happened on Feb. 22 at 8:25 p.m.
That is when police say a 22-year-old man and 38-year-old woman were walking in the area of Bronxwood Avenue and East 225th Street when they were approached by a group of people.
Police say someone in the group hit the man in the face, causing him to bleed. The group then turned to the woman, pistol whipped her before licking and punching her. As a result, the woman was left with a fractured skull and bruising all over her body. Officials tell News 12 the pair were rushed to the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.
Police say the thieves got away with only $20 in cash.
