Person of interest in custody for shooting of off-duty NYPD officer

The 26-year-old officer is a five-year veteran of the NYPD, and sources say he is a resident of Deer Park on Long Island.

A person of interest is in custody in connection to the shooting of an off-duty police officer.
The officer remains in critical condition at Brookdale Hospital.
NYPD and Clarkstown police officers tracked down and arrested the suspect at a Days Inn in Nanuet. A car has also been towed from the scene. 
Earlier on Monday, the NYPD was offering a $10,000 reward for anyone who could aid in the investigation of this shooting. NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell posted the reward information to Twitter on Monday morning.
Police say the officer was off-duty and was responding to a social media ad with his brother, attempting to purchase a car. Police say that's when the suspect pulled out his gun, fired off gunshots and struck the officer in the head. The incident took place at 427 Ruby St. at around 7 p.m.
The 26-year-old officer is a five-year veteran of the NYPD, and sources say he is a resident of Deer Park on Long Island. 
The apprehended suspect has yet to be charged.
