Police released surveillance video Tuesday that they say shows a deadly hit-and-run on a Cross Bronx Expressway entrance ramp over the weekend.
Investigators are trying to identify the vehicle.
Police say the victim, 63-year-old Jose Contreras, was trying to cross Webster Avenue at the entrance ramp when a vehicle struck him and sped off.
Contreras' son, Joseph Contreras, says a group of family members was leaving his aunt's 80th birthday party when the accident happened. He says he hopes the surveillance video will help police catch the suspect.
The video shows an SUV leaving the scene near 175th Street around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Contreras was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital a short while later. He was one of three people struck and killed in hit-and-runs around the city that same night.
