Police respond to possible bobcat sighting in West Islip

Suffolk County police say they received a report of a wildcat - possibly a bobcat - in West Islip early Tuesday.

Suffolk County police say they received a report of a wildcat - possibly a bobcat - in West Islip early Tuesday.
According to information from the police department, the animal was reported in the area of Boulevard Avenue at around 10:40 a.m. When officers responded to the area, they could not locate the animal.
On a Facebook post about the cat - Carole Baskin, of "Tiger King" fame, said the animal was a Siberian lynx.
News 12 has not received confirmation as to what the animal is or its whereabouts as of 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Police are asking anyone who has seen the animal to call 911 or 631-852-COPS.
