Board of Elections staff in Riverdale say this year was busier than the last presidential election four years ago.
They say they saw people who haven't voted in years. Staffers said that one man even came out to cast his vote for the first time in 35 years.
News 12 was told that voters started lining up as early as 5 a.m. ahead of doors opening at 6 a.m. They say the line was out the door because people rushed to get their ballots in before work and school.
Staffers were expecting approximately 5,000 to 6,000 voters in total by the time polls close.
