A pregnant tenant in the Pelham Parkway Houses says botched repairs to her apartment are creating a health risk to herself and her unborn child.

The apartment at 928 Mace Ave. was slated for a new paint job in May at the tenant's request.

Now, Ashley Simons says her home reeks of mildew and that innumerable roaches live above a tarp in her ceiling used to cover the unfinished work.

There are holes in the walls of her bathroom and even one in the center of the tub.

"You can smell it," Simons says. "You have things crawling in and out of it ... to the point where I'm scared to even go in the bathroom and take a shower."

She says the conditions were so egregious that she took NYCHA to court. But on the day of the hearing in June, she says a representative of the housing authority stopped her and promised to fix the problems in order to avoid facing a housing judge.

Shortly after that, she says she received notice that repair men would arrive on July 7. She says they never showed up.

NYCHA released a statement saying that repairs were actually scheduled for later this week.
