PS 380 students 'rock their socks' on World Down Syndrome Day
P.S. 380 students put their best foot first to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day.
The entire school came decked out in the most uniquely designed socks possible for Rock Your Socks Day. It is part of a symbolic measure to show that everyone is different.
Fifth-grader Victoria Rosario says she wanted her classmates to have more compassion for people with disabilities, like her cousin Damaris, who has Down syndrome. Rosario's family hopes the legacy of Rock Your Socks Day expands to other schools, as she graduates this year.
During the event, students flaunted their designs and read poems that drew from their personalities.
Rock Your Socks Day has been celebrated each March 21 for the last four years.
