PSEG Long Island officials are warning residents that potential outages from Henri
this weekend could last seven to 10 days.
The
utility tells News 12 that it's preparing for whatever the storm may bring
with extra crews on deck.
Richard Henderson, a PSEG Long Island Overhead and Underground Lines manager, says there are 1,200 additional crews arriving as early as Saturday morning.
"It's not always about the number of crews you have, it's getting into some tighter areas and there's going to be some pockets of extreme damage that we'll try to get as fast as we can," says Henderson. "The damage could have a few hundred thousand customers without lights so that's a lot of lights to put back on."

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran issued a statement in response to PSEG saying, "While we are all hoping for the best outcome this weekend, PSEG must call in additional crews who are prepared to respond to our resident's outages."
Emily Gaetta, a manager at Ace Hardware in Massapequa, says people have been coming in for generators and anything else needed to prepare.
"It seemed like once that alert went off -- the floodgates opened," says Gaetta. "So many people coming in for extension cords, flashlights, for everything."
In the event occupants experience lights going out, PSEG Long Island recommends
contacting the outage hotline at 1-800-490-0075.
