The exotic corpse flower is expected to bloom any day, according to experts at the garden.
They say the plant is still progressing along, but its bloom remains difficult to predict.
The bloom of the Amorphophallus titanum has been a 10-year work in the making.
Experts at the garden say the last time a corpse flower bloomed on display in New York was in 1939.
They say once the plant blooms it emits a stinky smell similar to that of spoiled meat or rotting fish in order to attract pollinating insects.
