Residents of Parkchester Condominiums told News 12 they've been seeing a rat infestation on their grounds.
"This is disgusting. It's unacceptable. The amount of rent that we pay on a monthly basis, we pay toward maintenance, but the grounds are not being maintained," said one resident.
News 12 spotted a dead rat in the trash room and a sign on the door saying "We are trying to control the vermin population."
Residents told News 12 they have not seen any improvements in the rat problem in months. They said it's getting worse, not better.
"We need them to come to clean, to exterminate as soon as possible because. Oh! There's one right there," said Samantha Hernandez, a Parkchester resident.
She found a rat running right behind News 12's interview.
Hernandez said she used to bring her kids to a nearby playground, but doesn't anymore because of the rats. She and her neighbors said their next fear is that the rats will enter their apartments.
News 12 reached out to Parkchester management but has not yet heard back.
