New Yorkers are getting some extra time to submit claims for replacement SNAP benefits. The deadline was supposed to be Monday, but the deadline has been extended to Dec. 20.
So far, the Department of Social Services tells News 12 that over 111,000 distinct claims have been processed since August 2023 for SNAP and Cash Assistance replacements. Of those claims, they have approved $32.1 million in replacement benefits in SNAP and $3.6 million for Cash Assistance.
Unfortunately, thousands of New Yorkers have reported that they believe they are victims of SNAP benefit theft - something often constructed through hacking credit card machines. To get those lost funds back, users must submit a claim.
