Some Wakefield residents are demanding safer driving conditions at the intersection of White Plains Road and East 234th Street.
They say drivers race down the road at highway speeds.
East 234th Street is a narrow, one-way road, which some believe drivers use as a shortcut to the Bronx RIver Parkway. Residents say it's hard to find parking and is dangerous to cross.
The city's Vision Zero program has no accident reports in the area, although some residents say they have seen frequent near misses and cars being sideswiped.
To deter speeders, they want speed bumps or a traffic officer. Residents say they plan to collect signatures for a petition soon. They have not yet made complaints to city agencies.
The Department of Transportation did not immediately respond to a News 12 The Bronx request for comment.
